The Career Center offers different modalities for students to connect with us including one-on-one drop ins, scheduled appointments with our counselors, career workshops, events, and various digital resources offered on our website. We encourage students to use these resources and visit us if they need any more assistance.  

We engage with students through our various modalities and resources. The UCLA campus gives robust ways for them to become prepared and build their network from day one. These include joining student clubs, connecting with our alumni network, applying to different programs such as New Bruin Leadership Academy and Career Ready Bootcamp, attending Summer Abroad sessions, and following us on Instagram. One of the top ways they can hear about new opportunities from the Career Center, major departments, Handshake, and more is through the email they provided in MyUCLA. Encourage your students to explore all of their different options and become involved as much as possible.  

The answer is complex because every individual has a different situation and the job market is constantly evolving and changing. Information given now may not be relevant in the next few years. The Career Center can help students navigate this uncertainty by offering different resources, fairs, and workshops to give our students the best opportunities possible to succeed. Some resources to explore for the most current information and to understand more about the current job market include the UCLA First Destination Survey (FDS) Dashboard, UC Undergraduate Alumni Degree Outcome Data, or UC Graduate Alumni Degree Outcomes Data. Our services are for currently enrolled UCLA undergraduate and graduate students only. However, anyone can access the digital resources here on our website. We also recommend that they learn more about the career services offered at their current school.

Congratulations to your future Bruin! We encourage them to sign up for a New Student Orientation Session, where they will have the opportunity to meet with Career Center staff and learn all about the services we provide. Yes! UCLA offers New Parent & Family Orientation which includes presentations about UCLA academic programs, advising, and requirements, campus safety and wellness, managing billing and financial aid, living on campus, the student union, and other campus resources. Learn more here.
