Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Career Center still open?
Although our physical location is closed, we are open virtually to provide resources and advising. Both undergraduate and graduate students are able to schedule consultations, access resources, and attend virtual events and workshops.
How do I schedule a virtual appointment?
All virtual appointments will be held via Zoom. To schedule a consultation, visit Handshake. Once scheduled, you will receive a calendar invite from our team with information on how to log in to your appointment.
Will there still be a Spring Career Fair or Health Fair?
In order to prioritize the health and safety of our community, all in-person fairs have been postponed. Our team is currently developing new ways for Bruins to connect with industry professionals including virtual info sessions, virtual on-campus interviews, and a new date/format for Spring fairs. We will be sharing more information about these virtual opportunities as they become available.
Are employers still hiring?
Yes, employers are still hiring for summer internship and full-time employment opportunities. Currently in Handshake, there are more than 9,000 jobs and 3,000 internships. Students are encouraged to complete their Handshake profiles and set up notification preferences to continue receiving opportunities in their areas of interest.
I have already accepted an offer. Can my employer rescind the offer due to COVID-19?
Very few employers have contacted us to announce changes to, cancellations, or withdrawal of summer internship/job offers. If you have already received an offer, we encourage you to reach out to your employer contact directly. If there are changes to your offer or you have questions/concerns about recruitment, please reach out to us at questions@career.ucla.edu.
