Information for Submitting a Request:
- Presentations are a minimum of one hour long in the hours of Monday – Friday from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Presentations outside of these hours may be accommodated on a limited basis, prioritizing virtual modalities
- A minimum of 10 participants is required, and larger groups will be prioritized.
- Presentation requests should be scheduled at least four weeks out from submission of the form and are reviewed on a weekly basis to be accepted. Acceptance is not guaranteed and is based on availability
- The workshops we offer are below and requests for different topics will require additional approval.
Workshops Available:
This interactive workshop provides an overview of the Career Center’s programs, including career counseling, job and internship resources, graduate school advising, and events like career fairs and industry panels. Students will learn how to navigate 12twenty, access drop-in support, and make the most of workshops and career tools.
In this workshop, we teach students the career development process and the importance of exploring interests, values, strengths, and skills to make more informed career decisions. Students will learn how to effectively make career decisions and how to use various tools to help with career decision-making. Our goal is to help students walk away feeling empowered and confident in their career development process.
In this foundational workshop, students will learn how to craft compelling resumes and cover letters that showcase their skills, experiences, and strengths. They will explore how to tailor application materials to specific job descriptions, highlight transferable skills, and align with skills-based hiring trends. Participants will also review formatting best practices and discover how to write strong bullet points and impactful cover letter content that reflect their unique value.
In this workshop, students will learn effective strategies for finding jobs and internships through both traditional and hidden markets. They will explore how to use platforms like 12twenty and LinkedIn, leverage networking opportunities, and set intentional goals to guide their search. The session also introduces skills-based hiring trends and offers tips for organizing application materials, identifying transferable skills, and staying professional throughout the process.
This interactive workshop introduces students to Focus 2, a comprehensive career assessment platform designed to help identify strengths, interests, values, personality traits, and skills. Participants will learn how to use their assessment results to explore career paths, match majors with potential occupations, and create personalized action plans. Students will leave with greater clarity about their career direction and strategies for making informed, confident decisions about their future.
This workshop focuses on how to build authentic professional relationships and craft a compelling personal brand. Students will explore strategies for effective networking—both online and in person—including how to conduct informational interviews and connect with alumni and professionals. The session also covers how to use platforms like LinkedIn to grow and maintain a network, and how to present one’s strengths in alignment with skills-based hiring trends.
In this workshop, students will learn how to build a strong LinkedIn profile that reflects their personal brand and showcases their skills, experiences, and career goals. They will explore best practices for writing a compelling headline and summary, highlighting accomplishments, and using keywords to increase visibility. The session also covers strategies for expanding and maintaining a professional network, leveraging LinkedIn’s job search tools, and navigating skills-based hiring trends.
In this workshop, students will learn how to confidently prepare for and navigate the interview process from start to finish. They will explore common interview formats and questions, practice crafting strong responses using the CARR method, and learn how to highlight both technical and transferable skills. The session also covers interview etiquette, strategies for asking thoughtful questions, and tips for following up professionally.
In this workshop, students will learn how to confidently navigate the negotiation process as part of their job search. They will explore strategies for researching salary ranges, evaluating their unique skills and value, and responding to common negotiation questions. The session also emphasizes the importance of total compensation, flexibility, and developing a personalized negotiation strategy rooted in preparation and confidence.
This workshop introduces students to the key differences between resumes and CVs and how to tailor each document for different industries and goals. They will explore what content to include, how to format each effectively, and how to showcase academic and professional accomplishments with impact. The session also emphasizes how to align experiences with skills-based hiring practices and highlights strategies to build strong, results-driven bullet points.
This workshop introduces students to practical, ethical, and effective ways to use artificial intelligence in their career development. Participants will learn how to responsibly integrate AI tools into their job search, resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, and more. The workshop covers the UCLA Career Center’s BRUIN Method for crafting strong AI prompts. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies, sample prompts, and a clear understanding of AI’s benefits and limitations in advancing their career goals.
This interactive workshop explores what professionalism truly means beyond dress codes and first impressions. Students will learn how to demonstrate integrity, accountability, and respect in diverse workplace environments while staying authentic to their personal values. The session covers key elements such as communication, behavior, appearance, and emotional intelligence, along with practical tips for interviews, online presence, and networking. Participants will leave with strategies to build trust, stand out to employers, and advance their careers.
In this workshop, students develop the skills to communicate clearly, engage audiences, and deliver impactful presentations. Participants will learn how to structure compelling content, connect authentically, and manage speaking anxiety using practical techniques. The session explores the “3 V’s + 1” approach—visual, vocal, verbal, and vitals—to strengthen delivery and presence, as well as the career advantages of strong public speaking skills in today’s skills-based hiring landscape. Students will leave with tools to present with confidence, authenticity, and influence in academic, professional, and networking settings.
This workshop teaches students how to identify and communicate their transferrable skills effectively in resumes, interviews, networking conversations, and on LinkedIn. Participants will explore the eight NACE Career Competencies, understand how skills-based hiring shapes today’s job market, and learn strategies to match their experiences to employer needs. Through self-reflection activities and practical examples, students will develop clear, authentic language to articulate their professional value and stand out in competitive application processes.
