Welcome Veterans!

The UCLA Career Center's full-range of services are available to enrolled undergraduate and graduate Veterans.  When entering UCLA, you bring a host of unique and desirable skills that future employers and graduate schools seek.  The California Department of Veterans Administration indicates ten reasons to hire military vets at their website: California Department of Veteran's Administration.

Employers of UCLA students value skills that are unique to our veterans, including leadership, teamwork, management, international experience, foreign languages, a deep understanding of loyalty, and community service!  A UCLA education will provide additional academic achievements and activities for your professional future.

The UCLA Career Center staff will work with you to discover options, whether you want to explore careers and internships, hone your job search skills, create resumes, or practice for interviews.  And we can address a variety of personal issues that may impact your career.  You're encouraged to work with our diverse staff of professional career counselors, use assessments to help you clarify career and graduate school interests,  prepare for graduate or professional school, and explore internships and international opportunities.

Veterans will be able to explore valuable networking opportunities with employers at our Career Fairs, Employer Information Sessions, and participate in on campus interviews for full time positions.  The Career Center also offers career focused events, online job and internship listings through Bruinview™, a comprehensive career library, and reference file services to store letters of recommendations from professors and employers for future use.

Tips for Veterans:

  • Begin working with the Career Center as soon as you arrive at UCLA!  Don't wait until you graduate.
  • Create a profile: Register with Bruinview™.
  • Come to the Career Center for Drop-In Counseling: Get quick answers to your questions and become eligible for full appointments with a career counselor.
  • Pick up our free Career Guide, as well as quarterly workshop schedules.
  • Attend Career Center programs such as Job Search Jump Start, career fairs, and internship workshops, to name a few.
  • Meet with a counselor for assessments, internships, and to apply for graduate and professional schools, or full time jobs.
