EARNING ACADEMIC CREDIT FOR YOUR INTERNSHIP

UCLA CENTER FOR COMMUNITY LEARNING

www.ugeducation.ucla.edu/communitylearning

A central resource for arranging internship credit is UCLA's Center for Community Learning.  This office arranges "195" and "95" courses through many UCLA departments, and has opened up an internship credit option for students completing the final quarter of their first year at UCLA. This may allow a first-year student with a summer internship to earn credit when required by the employer.  After reviewing the website, you can schedule a meeting with a coordinator by contacting them through the web or phone: (310) 825-7867.  Note that enrollment is via contract course.

UCLA EXTENSION DEPARTMENT OF ENTERTAINMENT STUDIES

The UCLA Extension Department of Entertainment Studies offers an internship course for credit each quarter.  Enrollment presents an additional expense during the academic year, but this option may offer a favorable cost during summer session. Extension is also a useful option for students who do not want to add units to their total, and for those who have already graduated.  The department maintains an exclusive list of internship contacts for enrolled students.

UCLA THEATER, FILM AND TELEVISION DEPARTMENT

There is an excellent internship program offered through the UCLA Department of Theater, Film and Television (TFT).  Students who are not enrolled in the TFT major can also apply; non-majors are welcomed. As with the UCLA Extension program, the TFT department maintains a list of internship contacts exclusively for students enrolled in their courses.

DEPARTMENT-BASED INTERNSHIP COURSES

Other UCLA academic departments may offer internship, fieldwork, or independent study options for students in a specific major.  Please check your course catalogue or speak with your department advisor to explore this option.
