“Public Service” is a career choice that many Bruins associate with a few specific fields of study. But the truth is that skills acquired through every major at UCLA are valued and in demand throughout federal, state, and local government. Mass retirements, stimulus spending, more entry-level training programs, and other long-term trends make the coming years a great time to explore a career in government service. At the same time, the process of applying for these coveted jobs and internships can be both precise and a little confusing. Join our panel of young and experienced public servants for a free-ranging discussion on who’s being hired, the effects of budget cuts, new training initiatives, and tips to help you find your place in the public sector.
