UCLA Career Center

Here's what some students had to say about their Job Search Jump Start experience:

"...thank you very much for the Jump Start session. It was very informative and greatly helpful!" - Henry Nguyen, 3rd Year Undergrad, Political Science, UCLA

This was by far the best short presentation I have had on the issue so far. I especially liked how the lady (sorry, I forgot your name) who introduced us to interviewing was able to demonstrate that a successful behaviour at an interview can be achieved without compromising your own personal integrity.

I would consider the overall message that "job search doesn't need to be a nightmare, you are not alone, you will have to put time and effort into it" brought me a good step ahead beyond my uneasiness with the topic. I had worked after my first degree and had to look for a job and prepare all the documents by myself then. (Career Centers are still pretty underdeveloped in Germany, where I come from.) I can really value your support therefore! Thank you!

Good mix of common sense information and up-to-date stuff. Especially good for making me aware of the available resources, esp. the career library.

A lot of students (myself included) literally have no idea how much the career center has to offer us. The presentation made me more aware of the great resource that is available, and convinced me to start taking more advantage.

I liked how it was in 3 hour block which is better than going to various 1 hour workshops.

The conference was extremely helpful. There were many speakers from all areas of dentistry, including admissions counselor, current dental students, current pre-dental students, academic counselor, and dental teachers. The wide variety of speakers helped me get a well-rounded view of how to begin searching for opportunities in dentistry. The online resources (powerpoint presentations) are great as well.

It was great! I gained a lot of new knowledge about the field.

Impressive and I am aware a good jump start in summer is necessary.

Wonderful.

It was a great meeting - everything was so helpful.

Most valuable to me was hearing about common interview questions so that I could prepare for the questions, as well as being told to send a thank you note after the interview.

I really appreciated that everyone knew what they were talking about. The pace of the workshop was good, and fast enough so that we would be able to keep up.

What I found the most valuable were how to contruct a resume/cover letter and how to behave in an interview.

The resume and cover letter was very informative. Also the interviewing process was informative too.

Links to job search websites in my area, specifically regarding public health and nonprofits--INVALUABLE!! Thank you!

Informative.

Very helpful.

Great insight.

Most valuable: Company research websites.

The experiences of the recruiters and students were very valuable.
