What is a
credentials file?
A credentials file is a collection of letters of recommendation,
non-specifically addressed, written in support of a particular person's
application for employment in the field of higher
education, psychology, research, and librarianship. If
you are a currently registered UCLA student, you may open a credentials file
here at the UCLA Career Center. Please note that the credentials file and its
contents are the property of the University of California.
Letters of recommendation should
be addressed to:
Attn: Credentials File Services
UCLA Career Center
501 Westwood Plaza, Box 951573
Los Angeles, CA 90095-1573.
For all other related questions,
please contact us at credential@career.ucla.edu.
Note: Because
a Credentials File can involve a candidate in a long-term relationship with our
service, and because that service involves a commitment to protect the authors
as well as the candidate, it is important to read and understand all of the
accompanying materials and be certain that your questions have been answered to
your satisfaction before you establish a file.
Please note: The
UCLA Career Center reserves the right to close Credentials Files, refuse
service, and/or send original letters back to their authors due to any of the
following: dishonesty, breach of confidentiality, abuse or other harassment of
Center staff, any violation of the letter or spirit of Credentials File
policies, non-payment of service charges, fraud (including attempts by a user
to obtain a copy of their letters of reference through provision of a
fraudulent address), or any other violation of University of California rules
or regulations, or local, state, or federal laws.
