OVERVIEW
What is Bruinview™?
BruinView™ is an Internet-based system that lets you browse full-time
jobs and internships, upload resumes and cover letters, submit applications,
sign up for campus interviews, view dates for information sessions, and keep
track of your job search activities – all from the convenience of your

to use!
Bruinview™
Guidelines
BruinView™ is a popular job search service offered by the Career Center,
and an exclusive privilege for UCLA students. To avoid jeopardizing your eligibility,
please pay close attention to these user guidelines:
- Be honest and truthful
about the information in your BruinView™ Profile and job search documents.
Providing false information about your major, graduation date, GPA, work authorization
and VISA is grounds for suspension.
- Always use the campus
interview process appropriately. Examples of inappropriate use include providing
your confidential BruinView™ log in to another individual, misrepresenting
yourself to employer representatives, and posing as another student at an
interview.
- Do not schedule an interview
with an employer if you are not serious about the position. Mock interviews
are the place to practice!
- If you must reschedule
or cancel your interview, please do so as far in advance as possible. Be familiar
with Rescheduling and Cancellation Guidelines
to avoid penalties.
Why Use BruinView™?

Types of Interview
Schedules
Pre-select Schedules: If you meet the employer’s requirements,
you will be eligible to submit your resume online. The employer will screen
all resumes, and pick preferred candidates, known as “pre-selects.”
These students will get first chance to request an interview time during the
designated signup period. Some employers also select “alternates.”
These are students who may signup on a first-come basis for any remaining interview
slots once the pre-select signup period has lapsed. The majority of interviews
are “pre-select” schedules.
Open Schedules:
A small percentage of campus interviews are open schedules. If you
meet the employer’s requirements, you may sign up directly for an interview
time on a first-come basis. Please do not take a time slot unless you are interested
in the position. If you sign up, you are expected to show up for your interview.
SIGN UP FOR
INTERVIEWS
You will receive an automatic email notification if you are pre-selected for
an interview. You can select an interview time slot only during the signup period.
How to Sign Up for
a Pre-select Interview
- Go to the My Personal
Organizer section of the BruinView™ Desktop, and click “View Resume
Submissions.”
- If you are pre-selected,
you will see a link directly to the right of the employer’s name stating,
“You have been invited…”
- Click this link to view
and select an interview time.
RESCHEDULE
AND CANCEL INTERVIEWS
You can reschedule your
appointment time via the BruinView™ online system at any time during the
sign-up period. After the sign-up deadline, you must contact the employer for
rescheduling assistance. If it is necessary to cancel, please do so as far in
advance as possible. There are stiff penalties for late cancellations and “no
shows.”
How to Change Your
Interview Time
- From the BruinView™
Desktop, click on “My Personal Organizer.”
- Click on “View
Resume Submissions” and highlight the employer with whom you have scheduled
an interview.
- Click on “Change.”
Your current interview time will appear in a radio button. You will be able
to view a list of available time slots.

click “Submit.”
How to Withdraw
from an Interview
- Before the BruinView™
signup period has passed: You may withdraw by following Steps 1 – 3
above. Simply select “withdraw” at Step 3 rather than “Change.”

has passed: You must contact the Career Center no later than 9:30 a.m., one

THE
INTERVIEW DAY
Campus interviews are held
on the 3rd floor of the Career Center, located in the Strathmore Building, 501
Westwood Plaza (southwest corner of Westwood Plaza and Strathmore Drive.)
What to Expect:
When you arrive, be sure to sign your name on the clipboard at the
BruinView reception desk, and have a seat in the lobby. The recruiter will call
your name when it is time for your interview.
Be Prepared:
Review the job listing and review the employer’s web site before your
interview so that you will be knowledgeable about the industry, company and
position. If the employer holds an information session, be sure to attend. Anticipate
and practice possible interview questions by attending a Career Center workshop.
Don’t be Late:
Arrive 5 – 10 minutes before your interview time. If you’re late
or miss your appointment, you will be subject to late cancellation and no show
penalties (not to mention the less-than-sterling impression you will make with
the recruiter.)
How to Dress: Business
attire is recommended. Most BruinView™ participants wear a dark suit or
coordinates. Jeans, t-shirts and running shoes are never appropriate. Dressing
rooms and lockers are available for your convenience if you are coming straight
from class and need to change clothes before your interview.
