Search for Positions &
Networking Events
After you have used the system a few times, you will be able to identify your
preferred method.
- Click the radio button next to your preferred search method and then click
the Search button, located in the center of the screen.
- Set the date range of 10/01/2005 to 12/31/2005.
- For best results, do not select "Visit ID" or "Advanced"
options and do not "check" the box titled "Search only..."
- If you have a dual major or more than one degree, it may be necessary to
revisit your Profile and change the order of your major and degree. The BruinView™
system matches only your first major or degree with the employer’s educational
requirements.
- Check the listings often. New employers and job descriptions are added frequently.
Apply for Positions
Resume submissions typically begin 30 days prior to an employer’s
scheduled campus visit. Each job description will list deadlines, which may
occur as early as 15 days prior to the interview date. Resume submissions begin
at 12:01 a.m. on the start date and end at 8:59 p.m. on the closing date.
How to Apply
- Click Job Title. This is where you will view company details, position titles
and descriptions, requirements, contact information, and deadlines for resume
submission and interview signup. A “submit” link will appear on
the screen if you meet the employer’s requirements for the position.
- To submit your resume, click on “Submit your Resume to be considered.”
Follow online prompts to select your targeted resume and add an optional cover
letter and unofficial transcript.
Schedule a Campus Interview
Types of Interviews
Pre-select Schedules: The employer will screen resumes and
pre-select its preferred candidates to interview. If you are a pre-selected
candidate, you may pick an interview time during the designated signup period.
Many employers also select “alternates” who may choose any remaining
interview time slots once the pre-select signup period has passed. The majority
of interview schedules are the pre-select type.
Open Schedules: If you meet the employer’s requirements, you may select
an interview time right on the spot, on a first-come basis. Open schedules
may not always require resume submission in advance. It is a good idea to
bring your resume to the interview.
Track Your Pre-Select Status
There are several ways to find out if you have been pre-selected
for an interview:
- Track your status through “My Personal Organizer” on the BruinView
Desktop, Click on “Resume Submissions.” If you are pre-selected,
a link to sign up for an interview time will be displayed. (You will see
this only during the Pre-select signup period.)
- You will receive email notification of your pre-select status direct from
the BruinView system.
- In addition, many employers will send a personal email of congratulations
and invite you to sign up for an interview time.
If you are not pre-selected, you will not receive notification.
Sign up for Interviews
- Go to My Personal Organizer from the My BruinView page.
- Click on “Resume Submissions." You will be able to view a record
of resume submissions, your pre-select status, and interviews you have already
signed up for.
- If you are selected, your link to sign up on a pre-selected schedule will
be accessible. You will see this invitation only during the pre-select signup
period.
Reschedule and Cancel Your
Interview
You can change your appointment time at any time during the
signup period. Last-minute cancellations are strongly discouraged.
Don’t jeopardize your BruinView privileges. Be sure to read Rescheduling
& Cancellation Guidelines.

Step 3.
After the signup period has passed: You must contact the Career Center no later
than 9:30 a.m., one business day before your scheduled interview to avoid a

The Interview Day
Location: Campus Interviews are held in private interview
rooms at the Career Center, located on the third floor of the Strathmore Building
(southwest corner of Westwood Plaza and Strathmore Drive). The address is
501 Westwood Plaza.
What to Expect: When you arrive, be sure to sign your name
on the clipboard at the BruinView reception desk and have a seat. The recruiter
will call your name when it is time for your interview and escort you to the
interview room.
Dressing rooms and lockers are available for your convenience if you are coming
straight from class and need to change into business attire.
Don’t be late: Arrive five-ten minutes before your
interview time. If you’re late or miss your appointment, you will be
subject to Late Cancellation and No Show penalties…not to mention the
less-than-sterling impression you’ll make with the recruiter.
Prepare for the Interview
Do your Research. Review the employer’s job listings
and visit their web site so that you will be knowledgeable about the industry,
company and position. If the company holds an information session, be sure
to attend.
Practice! There’s no reason to get butterflies or
sweaty palms if you’re ready to respond smoothly, positively and enthusiastically
to the employers’ questions. You can anticipate possible interview questions
by reviewing the Career Center’s free Career Guide publication.
Attend skill-building workshops. Take advantage of free
Career Center workshops, including Interviewing and Mock Interviews. You may
obtain expert advice on interviewing strategies, salary negotiation and other
employment topics from Career Center staff. Click here for a current workshop
schedule.
How to Dress: Conservative
business attire is recommended. Most BruinView campus interview participants
wear a dark suit or coordinates. Jeans, t-shirts and running shoes are rarely
appropriate. Locker rooms are available at the Career Center for campus interview
participants if you need to change clothes and stash your belongings on a
temporary basis.
