Precious Robinson

Introduction and Overview to UCLA Career Center Services
Precious V. Robinson returned to one of her dream jobs as a Career Counselor at UCLA in 2002. Previously, her employment included career counseling at University of Wisconsin-Madison, diversity coordinating for UW-Madison's residential life department, hall directing at Central Michigan University and program coordinating at CSU - Long Beach. Enamored with higher education and all things university, she earned her B.A. in sociology from the University of Georgia, studied journalism and sociology as a graduate fellow at UW-Madison, completed her master's education in clinical psychology and marriage family therapy at CSU-Dominguez Hills and is currently a joint degree Ph.D./MBA student at Claremont Graduate University. In addition to fulfilling her dream (as a career counselor) and helping others do the same (through career counseling), she delights in acting, spoken word, and creative writing. Precious, is also the past President of the UCLA Black Faculty and Staff Association.

UCLA Alumni Association Services Overview
Gloria Ko is a Project Manager for the UCLA Alumni Association. Previously, she was an Assistant Resident Director in the UCLA Office of Residential Life. At the UCLA Alumni Association, Gloria’s projects include implementing career-oriented events, such as Interview with a Bruin and Entertainment Networking Night, and Spring Sing, UCLA’s oldest and greatest musical tradition. She advises two student committees within the Student Alumni Association, and also collaborates with campus partners to coordinate engagement opportunities for graduate students.
Gloria is an active member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, and serves as the National Chair for Graduate Students and New Professionals in the Asian Pacific Islander Knowledge Community. She serves on the Executive Board of the UCLA Prytanean Alumni Association. She is also a Recent Grad Ambassador for the UCLA Alumni Association. Her areas of expertise are event planning coordination, counseling, and student development. Gloria received her Bachelors of Arts in Communication Studies and Masters of Education from UCLA.

How to Use a Professional Portfolio for Success
Elizabeth Monaco has worked in the field of Career Development for the University of California for almost eight years. She currently manages UCLA's Staff Enrichment Program (SEP) which is a cohort-based career development program designed to help administrative level employees grow into long-term professional roles across campus. Beyond SEP, she designs and delivers training courses to employees across campus on topics of Conflict Resolution, Communication Skills, Management and Supervision, Career Development, Strategic Planning, Public Speaking, and Time Management. She also provides individualized career assistance to employees at all levels of the university. Elizabeth has served on the board of UCLA's Staff Assembly as Vice President of Programs and has also spent one year at UCOP where she developed a career development program modeled after SEP.
Prior to UCLA, Elizabeth managed educational programs for graduate students and executives from around the world. She was an English Studies Faculty Member at the Monterey Institute of International Studies where she taught courses for international graduate students and Fulbright scholars within the US and abroad. Elizabeth has worked in Spain, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Mexico City. She received her BA degree in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara, her MA degree in Education from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, and she is a DDI Certified Facilitator.

Grace Park is a Career Counselor at the UCLA Career Center. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies from UC Santa Barbara, Certificate in Human Resources from Cornell University and an MSW (Masters of Social Welfare) from UC Berkeley. Her background is diverse, having worked a variety of jobs in several industries ranging from on-air jazz disc jockey, bookstore warehouse shipper/receiver, medical social worker, production assistant on a television show to college recruiter for an entertainment and biotech company. She worked as a temp through temp agencies for 2 years upon graduating with her Master’s and understands how valuable informational interviewing and networking are to arriving to where she is today.

Outside the Box: Career Options Beyond a Job or Grad School
Dario Bravo is the Manager of the UCLA Career Center's highly acclaimed Internship and International Opportunities program. As manager, he oversees both the on-campus office and the off-campus centers in Washington, D.C., Asia, Europe, and Latin America. He has been featured in Time magazine, USA Today, and the Los Angeles Times. Dario is the author of The Internship Advantage which was published in 2005. Prior to his career at UCLA, Dario was the Manager for 12 years of Professional Nurses Bureau, Los Angeles, the largest medical staffing office in the United States. In addition, Dario worked in the Master Calendar section of the Municipal Court for the City of Los Angeles and as part of the Editorial staff for the Los Angeles Times Syndicate. Dario served in the U.S. Army for three years (1960-1963). An avid traveler, Dario has visited a total of 31 countries.
